Evaluation of Steel Mechanical Properties Using Automated Ball Indentation System
This project aims at evaluating the use of automated ball indentation systems in identifying the mechanical properties of pipeline steels. The objective is to demonstrate the effectiveness of utilizing such a method of testing pipeline steels and identifying the advantages and disadvantages of this technique.
Offshore Pipelines Coating Activities
This presentation and activities sheets cover in general some of the coating methods used in offshore pipelines. It is based on actual working conditions and can be used as a reference for site assignments.
Pipelines from Concept to Implementation
This presentation gives an overview of the different stages in pipelines design and installation. It is based on actual involvements and contribution to specific projects.
Pipelines Construction and Installation
This presentation covers in details the steps taken when constructing or installing an offshore or onshore pipelines. The presentation is based on first account on the construction sites either offshore or onshore. The activities sheets give an actual account of the site observations made in the fabrication yard for the offshore pipelines.
TECHNICAL PAPERS & REFERENCE MATERIALS
Portable Vehicle Dynamic Center of Gravity Tilt Table
This report covers the design of a test stand that can determine the dynamic center of gravity for mid-size sport utility vehicles as well as passenger cars. The design is light and portable.
Model Hovercraft Design with Computer Control
We are designing a hovercraft that would maintain a certain altitude. Two vertical poles are guiding the hovercraft when itís in motion. A battery operated motor and propeller are providing the necessary power to left the hovercraft and its load. A computer program provides the input for the Hovercraft mechanical system
Mars Advanced Greenhouse Integrated Complex
NASAís official reference mission assumes a nominal crew of six astronauts. Working with a team of professors, engineering and biology students in an elective course at the University of Texas at San Antonio are developing a possible design for a greenhouse module to provide food for a crew of six on the planet Mars for approximately two years.
Improving Ratchets Study
The purpose of this study is to improve the current design of a 3/8in Craftsman ratchet. This improvement is achieved by reducing the stress at the fracture point on the gear. Changing the material and the design of the gear will reducing the stress. A comparison will be made between the stresses in the different designs and materials to allow for better design recommendations.
Solving the Kinematics of Planar Mechanisms Study
This case study illustrates a general method to analyze planar mechanisms, consisting of rigid links and connected by rotational and/or translational joints. This method can be used either to analyze the motion of a given mechanism or as a step in the design of a mechanism to produce a desired motion. Both input/output problems and path generation equations are treated.
